    Okay I have my E4300 for work, but now I think I am ready to make the jump at home to a dell Laptop for home use, replacing my home built desktop.

    I really really want a Regatta Blue Nvidia E6410 or E6510, which cuts my options down significantly. I did find these on the Dell Outlet.

    * Latitude E6410 Laptop (Scratch and Dent)
    * Processor: Intel Core i5-430M Processor (2.26GHz, 4Threads, turbo boost up to 2.53Ghz,3M cache)
    * Genuine Windows 7 Professional
    * 250 GB Encrypted Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor and Wave software (7200 RPM)
    * 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
    * 8X DVD +/- RW Drive
    * 512MB NVIDIA NVS 3100M
    14.1 inch UltraSharp WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display
    Intel WiFi Link 6300 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
    Genuine Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit Operating System DVD
    Integrated Webcam with digital microphone
    Regatta Blue
    9 Cell Battery, Primary
    $789.00

    The Other
    * Latitude E6510 Laptop
    * Processor: Intel Core i5-540M Processor (2.53GHz, 3M cache)
    * Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
    * 320 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
    * 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
    * 8X DVD +/- RW Drive
    * 512MB NVIDIA NVS 3100M
    15.6 inch UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED
    Intel WiFi Link 6200 802.11a/g/n Half Mini Card
    Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module
    125V Power Cord
    Back-lit Keyboard
    Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit Operating System DVD
    Integrated Webcam with digital microphone
    Regatta Blue
    $909.00

    My first choice would be the lighter E6410, but two things scare me oiff. First it's a scratch and dent. How bad are the scratch and dents on these? Second, it's got an Encrypted HD. How much does this slow performance, or make loading the OS a pain. I have no experience with these, we use encryption at work, but it's a Guardian Edge software package.

    The second is -nice-, but it's the larger model. It's also quite a few more bills. The outlet curiously does not list what battery it has too, typo?

    What does everyone think, besides the fact I should probably live with slate silver. LOL. But we have hundreds of slate silver E6410s at work, and I get tired of seeing them. LOL.

    I would get the E6510 for home use, as it has bigger screen and is faster how you have it spec'd out.

    Scratch and Dents are really hit or miss. Many people say it is near pristine condition, sometimes there are people who get areas where it is chipped or really dented.

    Do you plan on moving it around much at home? If it's a desktop replacement might as well go with the E6510. Or you could get the E6410 with a docking station. All up to you.

    At home it's going to sit in the dock with the lid closed. I plan on getting an E port plus and E flat panel stand. It will only travel maybe 10 to 20 percent of the time, but when it will travel, it really needs to well. That is why I was leaning towards the 14. I have a nice Dell P2210 with AX510 sound bar on the desktop, that will get transplanted to the laptop.

    Good info on the scratch n dent, so it's like rolling the dice..... may be going for the E6510 then. The oddball hard drive in that E6410 does too.

    The thing about the E6510 is they don't list the battery. Would they really sell it without one?

    App wise, general web browsing, light web editing (with Notepad HA), email, other light duty apps, two 3D apps. Second Life and Wizard 101. Don't care about how they look, just so I can get in and be with the wife. Nothing that needs CPU power

    Current offerings (and color) aside, if it's going to sit in a dock lid closed at home and you want it to travel well, get an E64x0 and a neoprene sleeve.

    I would also go for the E6410 because of the better portability. The E6510 will feel very big if you are used to the E4300. Are there any red ones available? I think it is a much better colour than the blue. Also, you should try to check out a 1920 x 1280 display 15.6" before you buy one. The display scaling option doesn't work for everything. 1440 x 900 @ 14.1" is similar, but slightly smaller, pixel size to the 1280 x 800 @ 13.3" and won't come as a shock to the eyes.

    Well if it's sitting on a dock with the lid closed, I'd honestly go with the E6410. You won't be able to enjoy your 1080p screen when closed, and spec for spec the 2 are very close, and the E6410 is alot cheaper. Also when you actually do bring it out to the real world, it'll be lighter.

    Edit: On the left hand side on outlet you can check which battery you want. Sometimes it won't list all the features as they try to jam everything into each part.

    Good points, that screen is really overkill for what I will be doing with it.

    Red does seem to be more common, but it just does not strike me right, I probably just need to live with the Slate Silver and be done with it.

    I kept looking, and I think I found a winner. It has an I3, but I think I can live with it. The desktop has only an S939 Athlon X2 4400+ in it.

    Well that E6410 has same specs except for i5 and has 9 cell battery and a 16:10 screen vs the E6510 which has a drop in the processor and a 16:9 screen though significantly cheaper. Your call still.

    Yeah I need to keep looking I believe. E6510 would be too heavy I think. I would love a E6410 with 4GB, 7200rpm non encrypted HD, 2.4ghz I5, in regatta blue
