I think I have my mind set on these two, because of the spec and price from the outlet...

I can't decide which one to go with. Watched the youtube video of the comparison between the two. Still can't set my foot down.

I believe E4310 will fit my needs. But if the weight difference isn't huge, I'd like to go with E6410. Because I plan to buy a hard drive bay, so I can buy a SSD and use the HDD in the bay for storage.

Any input on which one I should go with? Is it possible to replace the optical drive in E4310 with a HDD bay?

This is will be my primary PC, but I do plan to buy a dock.

Currently, I am using a D630 from work, with the large battery. It's heavy, but not overwhelming...

I wish there's a place where I can actually play with these two... Maybe I will try to find one at work.

I believe the optical drive on the E4310 is fixed. I guess it would depend on how much mobility you need. If it's a lot, then the E4300 may fit better. If not the higher resolution LCD and modular bay on the E6410 would offer better value.

    Thanks!

I think I will take it with me to/from work. But almost always drive... so no long walks.

    Occasionally travel... like 4 - 5 a year.

Maybe I should get the E6410, since I will get an ipad or android/win7 tablet.

I made this debate as well but with the E4300 vs the E6400. In the end I think it is up to what you want to do with the machine and what you prefer. I actually went with the larger 6400. Main reason for me was I would not be traveling that far with the machine so the added weight was not a factor. Also I have much more portable machines if needed.

Plus when playing with it more the larger screen was a nice change from my old 13" laptop.

All I can say is no matter which, I think you will be happy.

The E6410 has the more usable 16:10 display and 1440 x 900 gives a lot more real estate.

The ODD in the E4300 can be removed (one screw, but is not provided with a release mechanism as on the E6410).

I'd go with the 6410. A little more weight is a small price to pay IMO for expandability and a better screen

That's certainly a personal preference. I mostly had larger notebook in the past, but went with a 12" this time. Do I need much mobility? Nope, but I just got tired of larger notebooks. Neither is a bad choice.

I greatly appreciate your responses. Thanks for your time, all.

I think I will get the E6410. Most of the time, I will be working on it in the office.

yeah... but still, one can put a 60gb or 80gb ssd in there as the OS drive and use the 500gb/320gb HDD in the media bay with a hard drive caddy, right?

this is not practical with E4310....
