Interesting, it was the dark lid on the E6400 that turned me off of it. I compared the two at work yesterday and the silver one looks better and adds a nice contrast to the "all gloom black" inside unlike the old lid. I actually think it makes it appear more expensive, and I think it makes the latitude a more unique choice for a business pc again.

Well the E6400 lid looked like brushed aluminum. The E6410 seems like plastic? Not sure...

Also, does anyone know what driver to install for the backlight keyboard?

It was working before I reformatted? Can't find the specific driver for that on dells site?

I think that both lids look suitably like faux aluminum. Can you tell whether it's actually made of metal like the D series systems, because I haven't unfortunately. I kinda wish they did, I mean, HP really stepped up their game with the Elitebook line. I compared the E6400/6410's EliteBook analogue, the 8440p, to it just in terms of appearance and the EliteBook looked way better than the E6400. I'd say the new lid on the E6410 makes a big difference in the way it compares appearance wise.

I will say that Latitude felt more soild. Things that had ever so slight flex like the keyboard on the EliteBook were rock soild on the Latitude.

How did the screens compare between the E6410 and Elitebook? I've read good and bad things about screen quality on both. Also, did you find the screen on the HP to look "squished" due to the 16:9 ratio?

Samsung is the biggest SSD manufacture for OEM, so I would guess that is the one they use. They are not very good. You can get better (faster) for cheaper (watch out for specials).

The elitebook screen looked pretty good, but so did the latitude at higher brightness. I did notice the 16:9 ratio on the EliteBook, but it was slight and i suspect that with a higher screen rez (if hp offers it) i could be just fine with it. :)

Thanks for the response guys - that secondary manufacturer is kinda scary in terms of such a difference in performance! Anyone receive their computer in the past couple weeks receiving those drives as well? Thanks!
