I had a bad imaging experience with Symantec Ghost 9 that spooked me, so I know what you mean. Ever since, a clean install has always seemed easier. :)

    >>> My E6410 boots very slowly. How can I improve booting speed?
    My E6410 config is: i5 430M, 320GB HDD, 512MB NVS3100M (check dxdiag shows 2197MB)
I use windows 7 ultimate with all components are updated.
I just install some softwares (after a fresh installation of win 7 ultimate 64bit) like MSE, Office, Adobe CS5, Itune. I don't think these programs slow down my laptop.
Anyone can help me please :)
    Thanks in advance!!

Did you add any hardware to what Dell shipped?

Did it boot slow when you got it from Dell?

Did you re-image similar to the notes in my sig?

Did you notice the slow boot begin at some point during the re-image?

Is it slow during the BIOS POST boot stage or after Windows begins loading?

John Ratsey's review from 11/20/2010 says that there is a BIOS option for passive cooling but I can't seem to find it. Can someone explain where it is? Thanks.

I agree that it is not now in the BIOS. However, there is an option to select Active or Passive cooling under the Windows Advanced Power Management (Processor power management). Perhaps it was moved.

Does anyone have any suggestions for SSD? My second one just died. My first was an older 2009 Kingston older Jmicron 64GB "value" SSD and second is Vertex 2 sandForce 60GB (Has sleep/hiberate/time wrap problem) just went out for no reasons. Now I see a Kingston SNVP325-S2/128GB for below $200 and a Crucial CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1CCA for $199. I need an upgrade to another SSD with larger capacity. Can someone recommend me which one is good?

    thanks

Crucial C300 is a good option, though freezing/stuttering are known issues.

Best bet is to stick with Intel. They aren't the fastest nor the best value but they are the most reliable brand out there as a whole.

Just this week the touchpad and pointer stick on my E6410 stopped working. Dell replaced my palm rest and keyboard which has solved the problem. Has anyone else encountered this?
