I haven't used Dell warranty support yet, since i don't use Dell laptop. But from my personal experience with the Dell Customer support, they are extremely good with pleasing the customers. Lenovo's customer support not so much.

My experience with Dell support has been fantastic too.

While I was in Finland they did not hesitate to replace my heatsink, then my motherboard+heatsink, and finally giving me a new laptop altogether, then switching the screen because it came with a dead pixel.

Since I moved to Portugal they replaced the PSU for the docking station, also with zero problems.

Great review/comparison! I've had my new E6410 running a few hours now and it is a very nice unit (i7 M620 NVS 3100M LGD0257). Support is critical when you need it... when the manufacturer needs to step up and make it right or provide some key help. Dell has a serious track record of providing extensive support from A to Z which makes it near impossible for me to research and buy from another vendor in view of the E6410.

Honorable mentions for Dell on build quality, the blue LED indicator on the power cord, and the now-a-mandatory-feature backlit keyboard.

I used Dell's International Ownership Transfer form. Here's the link for your convenience :)

Doesn't the E6410 compare more closely feature-wise to the X-series
ThinkPads ? In which case the Dell is quite a bit cheaper.

I use my laptop on my lap very often, and as a result I would get the T410, because it does not make me sweat while the e6410 does. The T410's speaker and headphone jack can be very frustrating with how quiet they are in movies though, so those I think are the main weak points for both machines from my perspective.

I use it on my lap more than I watch movies though, so I would still choose the T410. I can see many use cases though where the e6410 is the superior buy. If you are going to use your machine primarily on a desk with an external mouse, I think the e6410 would be a very sure bet.

Really they are both very nice machines.

No, the e6410 and T410 are nearly identical featurewise, size-wise, and battery-wise. The differences are primarily in how each manufacturer implements these things.

Now the base e6410 is more comparable to the T410i, since the base processor has been downgraded to the i3-370M.

That glowing blue LED indicator is annoyingly bright and entirely out of place on a business notebook. It's a distraction to any adult, although it might briefly entertain a small child.

There's also nothing mandatory about the backlit keyboard. Dell might try to push the feature, but it really isn't of any great use to anyone who knows how to type. Actually, if a person knows how to type, they very rarely even look at a keyboard, but keep their eyes on the screen? Again, yet another distraction that would appeal to a kid but not to a business user?
