I have no experience buying as a partner/reseller, but I would still call them and express how unhappy you are about this. If Dell bends over backwards for private customers, it's only fair to expect they do it even more for business customers who buy large quantities of their products.

If they don't come through though, you can always tell them you won't choose Dell in the future.

agreed 100%. My Dell rep sent me this update this morning: He attached my email and benchmarks I had sent to him yesterday.

"I sent this to our brand management team earlier, Pete. I will let you know as soon as they respond. They usually take around 24 – 48 hours

    Account Manager. National Alliances.
    Dell | Global Commercial Channel."

I think you should really ask yourself whether the SSD drive issue matters to the end users? Is the performance of the Samsung SSD really "mission critical?"

yes, it matters, otherwise I wouldn't be raising a stink about it. Developers and VMs are I/O resource hogs.

an update from my Dell rep:

"I will keep you up to date. Seems they’re opening an investigation.

We generally dual source products and due to supply constraints on Samsung, we have been shipping Lite-on as well. Lite-on has tested at the same performance levels as the Samsung drives, but PG marketing has forwarded this to engineering and quality for review. Please submit an escalation and then forward that number to me so that I can route back to PG.

I was curious and asked how they tested the drives, just using WEI or what?

an update from my rep. Only took 10 days

    "FYI

They have acknowledged the performance issues and are checking if we still carry the Samsung drive so we can issue an exchange. "

well, let's hope they have the drives. Otherwise I guess we will be getting a refund, and off to Newegg I go.
