Hello all, so I got an interesting issue going on with my e6420 right now... The LCD appears to be dead, I can hear windows start up just fine, but nothing every shows up on the LCD. Any ideas? I have the 1600 x 900 model if that makes a difference, and last night everythinng was working fine.

EDIT: Contacted Dell and I will be sending it in soon.

Have you tried to connect the laptop to an external monitor?

did you do a clean install. If you installed the drivers in the incorrect order, there's a chance that the backlight for the screen can turn off. If you hold up a light to the screen and see stuff on it, then that's what happened.

Use mobility center (windows key + X) to adjust the brightness back up as the shortcut keys on the keyboard won't work.

Well shoot, I did do a clean install and that could be very well be a problem. Although, I'm not sure because it was working fine the night before, and then the next morning it wasn't working. I have already sent it in, but if they do send it back and can't find an issue I will know that is the problem (I kept the hard drive). Thank you for much for this information. Rep to you my friend.

I turned my backlight off (thinking it was a feature) that night and was shocked when hitting the shortcut keys couldn't bring the backlight up again. I too thought it was broken, hopefully that's not the case with yours :D
