I just bought an external monitor for my E6500 and want to turn off the screen when it's plugged in (VGA). I searched for what I thought would be an easy thing, but got so much unrelated info I gave up. I can dim it to almost off, but it's still a distraction.
    Thank you

    Try:

    o Fn+F8 display device.
o Fn+D display OFF/ON (conserve battery without shutting down entire system).
