Ok, I have a e6500 with the WXGA CCFL screen. I wanted to upgrade to the WXGA+ screen to get the higher resolution. I purchased the screen from a very reputable vendor who I have done business with several times in the past. I get the screen and start to install and notice that the new screen does not have the cable for the backlight inverter and also that the video connector is in the wrong place, and the female portion of the connector on the screen itself does not fit the cable that is currently coming off the motherboard.

I took the screen back to the vendor, and he told me that the screen he gave me is correct, but that I needed a completly new video cable, and that this new cable would not only handle the video, but that it does not need the inverter cable, because this new cable would take care of that.

Is this correct? Seems a little odd to me, but I just want to confirm. Thanks!

This is 100 percent true, you will need a different cable for the led lcd. I am a certified dell tech who has worked on all three types of LCD types on the E6500. They are sold with three different types, CCFL, Dual CCFL, and LED.

You make will most likely need to remove the screen assembly because the cable goes through the hinge, it easy to remove and replace.

Any other questions let me know.
