I didn't order it with my machine, how would I add it with Verizon?

If i read your right your talking about the option during ordering to add verizons internal EVDO modem to the laptop. The normal means of adding this feature to a laptop that does not have it is external via usb. If your actually asking what mobile broadband is beyond that you would be paying Verizon a monthly fee to access the web using a data modem either built into or attached to the laptop.

EDIT - After pulling up the spec sheet it looks like you need the Dell Wireless 5720 module is what your looking for for verizon.

EDIT 2 - Once again it appears to actually be a Mini PCI-E card (had some doubt).

The unit does not appear to replace the wireless card so a second slot and set of antenna's (likely intended for evdo use) is needed to utilize it.

I have a phone-as a modem deal with Verizon now. I thought it may be quite useful to simply add it to the laptop to eliminate additional wires and add a bit of convenience.

I wonder if they will have a 4G card soon?

If your tethering your phone as part of your regular phone service i do believe that getting a modem on the account is actually going to be an extra bill. I know sprint tethering is about half the price of their mobile broadband. Not sure if I read you right.
