    Hello,

I am trying to plug my external monitor on my brand new e6520 (with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and i5 2520M) but I am unable to make it working with its native resolution. I tried many drivers and configuration through the Intel graphics tool without success. Above 1680x1050, the image on my monitor is truncated and I can't see the top, bottom, left and right of what should be displayed on my screen.

So what would be the maximum resolution supported by the Intel HD Graphics 3000 ?

    Thanks,

I had a similar issue with my work Probook connected via HDMI to my Sony Bravia TV. Not sure if your tv has the same option but buried within the HDMI settings was an option to switch on "full pixel" which extends the image on all four sides. Once this was set, the task bar etc was fully visible. On TV channels it shows extra picture which is otherwise off the edge of the screen. This setting was off by default. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, my external monitor does not have this option. Previously, it was connected to a 9800 GX2 and a radeon HD 3870 with no issues. I re-tested the monitor on a desktop and it works well.

How are you connecting the laptop to the monitor? Unless you have some super high resolution screen, the integrated graphics won't have a problem with it.

    Need more information.

    1. Does the display pan and scroll if you move beyond the edges?
    2. What model display and type of connection (ie: VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) are you using to connect to the monitor?
    3. What is the native resolution of your display?
    4. If you use the Intel control panel, what does it say it detects as a display?

Sorry for the late answer, I wasn't available but thank you to investigate.

    1. No, it doesn't pan and scroll.
    2. I am connecting it through VGA. It is a Packard Bell Maestro 240W : Packard Bell Maestro 240W
    3. Its native resolution is 1920x1200
    4. It is detected, as it should be, as a PKB MAE240W and the intel control panel lists the 1920x1200 resolution.

    Try a different cable first.

I already tested it with another cable with no success. And there is no problem on other computers with different gfx cards.
