External monitor resolution issue on e6520

    Change your graphics driver. Are you using the driver from Dell or Intel? Get the latest driver from Intel if you're using the Dell driver.

    Try pressing Win-P and change to "Projector Only" mode.

    @Robin24k, I already tested many drivers, from Intel and Dell websites with no changes.

    @AlexF, the problem is the same in "Projector only" mode.

    Note that the problem is the same with Ubuntu and Windows. This is why I suppose this is a hardware compatibility issue. I would like to test with another monitor which have the same native resolution but can't.

    Is there someone who works with this configuration with no issue ?

    Thank you Robin but I already readed and tested that unless this does not match my issue. In my case, the native resolution of the monitor is displayed in the graphics properties. It just does not work as expected.

    I think it's your LCD (one more reason to stick with name brand or OEM, my Dell LCDs have never had any problems). Do you have a docking station and a DVI cable? Try DVI instead of VGA and see if it makes a difference.
