Firepro M5950 GPU does not idle = poor battery life

    Can you download HWinfo 32 or 64 and let us know how much power is being pulled at the different clock settings? Needing to know what the Whr pull is at low and high clocks.

    Nevermind, I found what I was looking for. It looks like the battery discharge rate can get as low as 13.75Wh if the ATI clocks all the way down and nothing is running on the machine.

    My guess is that you could get normal draws between 15-20Wh on a well optimized machine. Any software that runs all the time in the background will create a higher draw and less runtime. Browsing websites that have video will also kick up the power draw.

    Also remember that the IPS panel draws more power than the regular TN panel.

    :eek: Thank heavens we have a reply. copy and pasted the results. running native 1080p resolution! with latest ati drivers for 6770m!

    now i noted the graphics card is running at pcie 1x?!
    granted i am on battery while testing. have not the opportunity to plug in today...but could be reading error or am i noticing lower 3d performance than it is.

    It doesn't appear like BIOS version A05 changes anything regarding this bug.

    bios A05 killed turbo mode.

    bump for a friendly reminder issue of downclocking is not resolved.
