I think some people can detect it though. I remember back in the days of CRT, if I need to look at the screen for a long time, I prefer to set the refresh rate as high as possible as it's easier on my eyes.

I think if you want both the power saving mode + higher maximum mhz for GPU as well as actually hitting the higher maximum mhz gpu based on demand, you will need to settle for 40 hz screen. I just tested it with Civ5, using high performance power plan, power play enabled, 40 hz screen. I can get the idle gpu mhz down to 100 when I'm not using it. When I play civ5, I can see the gpu fluctuates between 100, 400, 750 mhz depending on the situation.

It's nice to see the LCD might be the issue. I'd think accounting for this timing issue would be easy. Dell? I'm still not buying until this is fixed.
Still not sold on getting a customer Asus or Sager from XoticPC either.
This blows. I should be buying my College Graduation present and I can't even say "Here's what I want, thanks family!'. they think i'm crazy.

Yes,only when LCD screen is at 60 hz refresh, enable power play that the bug exist.
A new revision panel can fix this issue.

Exactly! I pulled the trigger on a Dell Outlet M6600 i7 Dual Core with the 3000M, 8GB 1333 and Premium Panel 1080p. It JUST occurred to me that it probably won't have 4 DIMM Slots not being the qc, but, its $1100 with 3year warranty upgraded. I have enough RAM there and i'm putting in a 120GB SATAIII SSD Primary drive to it should be smooth as butter. If it f's up, it'll be the last time Dell sticks me. I have a Vostro 1500 WITH defective Nivida chipset BUT it somehow manages to melt a stick of butter sitting next to it in a min flat BUT also won't short out, so no replacement but I have owned a room heater of a laptop for 3 years. Not fun.
