Do you have a copy of the 7900GTX BIOS?

    You might find it here:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...DIA&manufacturer=&model=&interface=&memSize=0

    Once you find the BIOS:
Download gpuz, click on the little icon that has a green arrow. Save your current BIOS as a backup.

Rename the file to "oldbios.rom" (without the quotes).

Rename your new BIOS to "newbios.rom".

Follow these steps to flash it:

If you get any warnings in nvflash, you can skip them by using the command:
    nvFlash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom

The win98 files need to be put on a USB key to be able to boot from it.

Just follow the guide exactly and you should be fine.

You do need to keep a backup of your current BIOS, just in case the flash fails and you need to blind flash to save it.

I don't know if that is the correct BIOS, hopefully somebody here on the forum can just upload their BIOS for you;)

If the flash fails, you just need to "blind flash". Meaning that you have to remember how you flashed the first time and do the same thing without the image on the screen.

But I don't know if your notebook will boot with a bad GPU, if you cant turn on the notebook with a bad GPU then you can't "blind flash" to save it.

do i need a seperate flash drive for the backed up bios?

one for the new bios and another flash drive for the backup plan B

ive never worked with flash drives before

also, any flash drive? any particular size?

ill just return it anyways to you know, best buy lol

If you dont have a flash drive, you can use a CD/DVD.

You should put both the newbios and oldbios onto 1 flashdrive/CD/DVD.

To backup your bios, download GPUz.
Click on the little black chip with the green arrow > save to file...

Rename that file to "oldbios.rom" (without the quotes). Make sure you put this file on your flashdrive/cd/dvd along with the newbios and nvFlash.

Being prepared for the blind flash:
Just use a stopwatch to time how long things take during the flash.
e.g. Time how long it takes from the moment you turn on the notebook till you get to the first prompt.

Also write down the steps you took when flashing.
    e.g. press y, hold F1, type nvFlash...

You do this so that you wont need to see the screen to know what to press and when to press it.
