Just got my E4300. There are a few things bugging me about the unit such as the touchpad and touchpad buttons.
But one of the real annoying things is the Control Point. Especially for wi-fi.
Once the computer is running, I can see at least four items on my system tray associated with wifi, or connecting to it.

How can I simply let the windows wifi manage my wifi?
For some reason, when I hybernate or go on standby, the wifi (managed by Control Point) doesn't automatically connect again. I have to disable my wifi and enable it again to find my router. Or Reboot. Very annoying.
It also completely disables the windows built wifi. So "repair" wifi doesn't work because it doesn't even see my network.

So, Is it ok to disable simply the wifi portion of the control point?
Better yet, what's the proper way of doing this?
I'm fine with the other stuff, I just find the wireless networking portion of it annoying.

    Thanks.

That's probably the Dell Connection Manager part (which I didn't install). I think you can uninstall it from the Add and Remove Programs link in the Windows Control Panel.

Try Start > Programs > Dell Wireless> Dell WLAN Card Utility and there should be an option to let Windows handle the wireless. I don't think its ControlPoint trying to manage the wireless, but this program instead. Not 100% sure, but that being said, I'm not sure you can uninstall individual ControlPoint modules, but I know you can install individual ControlPoint modules.

    Or....

Start DCP >> connection manager >> profiles >> change settings >> program settings >> uncheck available technologies boxes

That's how I disabled it, now using the XP wireless utility, much faster. I still left DCP installed, because I still find it somewhat useful for other things.

Well, I tried uninsalling from Add/Remove Programs and opened up a can of worms.
Not sure if this is related (I don't remember this issue before) but now my laptop won't go into stand by/hibernate mode. It will say preparing to stand by but just locks there. Can't do anything but hold the power button and shut down.

Googled my problem and some say it's the integrated cam. Installing latest drivers from Dell. But now it's stuck on 90% for like 5 min.

... and my usb ports no longer work?

    What is going on here?

Going to try and reboot and see what happens. :(

That's weird. If it's available from the Add/Remove screen it should uninstall properly.

Some users have standby/hibernate issues. You could look around and see if your issue is related, or just re-install the Dell Control Panel and see if it gets better again.

Sorry for that, I honestly thought it would make things better, not worse.

    Nope, not your fault.
That's how I would have logically uninstalled the program.
The usb seems to be fine now.
Installing video drivers and webcam drivers (based on google search).
    We'll see if that works.

Another solution is a new clean installation of WXP, use only basic drivers from hw manufactures (and the rest from Dell), no Dell utilities. Then the computer is very fast, reliable, no problems.

Any solutions for the lost wireless connectivity after resuming from stand by? Every time I resume from standby, the wireless doesn't automatically connect...

I uninstalled the connection manager first thing by going to Add/Remove Programs.

    Vista handles Wifi much better.
