hurry for me, i just went ahead and did the smart thing and uninstalled the DCP connection manager....the problem is, i don't have the program to tell windows to use it's own ZCCM! It still says I have another program running connections!

I basically made something broken into something broken'er :(

I have Win XP with Dell E6400, and I got tired with the Profile pop up. I couldn't disable it anywhere.

I uninstalled the Connection Manager and without booting, the browsing speeded up A LOT. :D :D :D I have a bit weak Wlan signal in the living room (Red or Yellow), but now this is so much more convenient.

Hopefully this continues after the reboot. I can't do it now, but this should have been done 9 months ago!!!
It feels like a choking throat would have been opened. Data really flows now.

    NEXT DAY AFTER BOOT
    NOT WORKING ANY LONGER

    So I did something wrong.

Please specify your system & comp model etc. They really help to get answers for your request.

Once you have removed Dell Connection Manager, if you are getting the message that "another application is configured for wireless..." try the following:

    • Select Start
      Right Click on My Computer
      Select Manage
      Expand Services and Applications
      Select Services
Ensure that Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service is set to Stop
Set the Startup Type to "Manual"
Ensure that Wireless Zero Configuration is set to Start
The Startup Type should be set to "Automatic"

This resolved the issue for our E5500 users
    I hope this helps :)

I had a very similar problem to the initial post. I have a Dell E6500 running Windows 7. I continued to have problems with automatic connect with Wifi. It just would never work. It appeared to be a problem with Dell Control Point Connection Software. If I uninstall the software completely, it works fine. That seemed a little harsh. I wanted to keep the program if in case I could use it for something else.. perhaps when I am connected hardwire to a LAN. I tried another reviewers suggestion, to disable only the wifi portion of the Dell Control Point Manager program. After reboot, now the problem seems solved. The Windows wifi automatically connects to the router without me having to do it manually all the time.
