I've been searching for hours and have not found a possible cause or solution to my problem. Everytime I press the power button on my laptop, the power light will stay on for a few seconds, then it will turn off (the computer never actually turns on) and the battery light will turn on for a few seconds before turning off. I have looked all over the place trying to figure out what this means. Currently, my computer is inoperable. I thought that it had just run out of battery power and that the power adapter was broken, but I replaced the power adapter and the problem persists. Having it plugged into the power adapter does not cause it to charge. I have two batteries, a 9 cell and a 6 cell, and I assumed that if the problem was with the main battery then at least the other battery would be able to pick up a charge.

I know this is an old thread and maybe you solved this issue, but did you check the 2 batteries if they where full charged? It's possible that the power adapter connector of the motherboard is broken.
Is the power adapter still charging the batteries?
