Thanks for the pix and the review. Does anyone know whether the E4200 will have the 1440x900 resolution that the 12.1" ultraportable X200s Thinkpad has? I know that the E4200 is currently available at 1280x800 only, but I am hoping that Dell will add a 1440x900 option. When that happens, I will buy one!

Me too! Among 7 laptops I've ever owned, I loved my X300 most.

I ordered E4200 a couple of days ago.

I have the D430 and still use my X300....the E4200 looks like a good replacement for both. Hope I like more than the X300.

That is the only thing holding me back from ordering one.
I am use to the 1440x900 and cannot go without it.

CorporateTraveller did you notice if they offer a privacy filter for the E4200?
and $199 for the backlit keyboard......ouch!!

Hey OP, good looking photos. I just finally got around to reading your review.

Is the touchpad Alps or Synaptics? I'm fearing that it's probably Alps, but I'm hoping against hope that it's Synaptics, since there are some awesome multitouch controls available for Synaptics pads.

Is it possible to pop out the SSD and use a hard drive? If so, what size slot are we looking at here? 1.8" or 2.5"?

I agree with the guy who's craving 1440x900. That's probably my #1 most-wanted feature in a 12" machine, but I've tried the Lenovo TrackPoint and I just simply cannot deal. I've gotta have a touchpad. Also, backlit keys are a huge requirement.

Did you get the 6-cell? How's battery life?

It is interesting that the finish of the E4200 is real glossy, while the finish of the E6500 is not.
