Hi, I just got a Latitude E6400 ATG and I'd like to upgrade/customize it.

I found that most of the specs for the normal E6400 are better, and I was wondering if anybody can confirm me if these parts are swapable and if you recommend to swap them.

    1. The E6400 ATG motherboard (with the Intel 4500MHD graphics) for the E6400 motherboard (Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M motherboard).

    2. The E6400 ATG screen (WXGA LED 1280 x 800) for the E6400 screen (WXGA+LED 1440 x 900)

    3. The E6400 ATG fingerprint optional fingerprint reader for the E6500 FIPS fingeprint reader

Who can confirm me if this is do-able?

Anybody has done any of these swaps?

    What would you recommend?

    Thanks.

I haven't actually tried any of these, but I'm theorizing based on D620/D630, which I have worked on.

    1) Yes.

    2) Technically, yes, but if the screen has been treated like the D620/D630 with the extra glass and goop, this may be a practical impossibility unless you want a big gap somewhere, etc.

    3) I'm not sure if the fingerprint readers can be easily removed from the speaker grills. Even if they could, I'm not the cabling is the same.

With regards to the fingerprint reader, no. The FIPS reader is too large to fit, and the speaker grille is a different width.

I too would like to know if this upgrade is possible:

    2. The E6400 ATG screen (WXGA LED 1280 x 800) for the E6400 screen (WXGA+LED 1440 x 900)

Since the ATG display assembly is thicker, you'll be left with some extra space or a loose screen. Of course, if you want to replace the entire assembly (back cover and bezel), it will work fine.
