I personally think WXGA+ is perfect on the E6400; WUXGA was just a little too small on my former D830. Nominally the E6400 starts at 4.3lbs and the E6500 starts at 5.2 lbs. Considering that most practical E6400 configurations are about 5lbs, I'd say most practical E6500 configurations would be around 6.3lbs. So it's about a pound more for the E6400.

If those T9400 models have everything else you're looking for, you might as well buy one and change the processor yourself. They cost about the same on ebay, but you might even make a small profit buying one and selling the other. Nonetheless, I'd venture that the difference between P and T processor isn't going to be that much at idle, maybe even just one or two watts.

There isn't a single one with a good processor, Intel graphics, a camera, and the 250gb drive. They all have the Nvidia, which my friend doesn't need and would rather have more battery life, less heat, and less noise. I guess we'll just keep checking...

Has anyone ever tried calling outlet to see if they have any other inventory like it says on the banner at the top?

Well, I mean if you don't want to wait, you could find one and change the processor AND the hard drive... Really, the difficult parts to replace are the GPU, display, and webcam. Even the battery you could ultimately switch out at a cost/profit.

I use a sony 17inch monitor set at 1280x1024 at home and it is fine.
So if I go with 1280 what is the difference btn WXGA and WXGA+?

I think the second sentence still applies.

Can you provide a link for that? All I can see at dell sites just states "DVI".
Edit: my basic e-ports DVI port has dual link DVI-D pinout.

    Not with this monitor.

Graphic card will display, monitor will not - in order to achieve anything in between the graphic card has to do the scaling by itself and output the signal as 2560x1600.

I was considering getting one for the 30" so I did some research. Check hardforum or other for user reviews/comments (about using it on single link dvi only).
Only the newest generation (3008 or the gateway) 30" have built in scalers which work wonders, but have high input lag and a hefty price tag.

I wouldn't count on it :(. Check the apple one - it seems to have some fance box and requires usb power.
Dell has those simple adapter in stock as well, but says they're good for 1920x1200 tops.

I've got a similar system (minor differences) for less then 800$ with tax and shipping.

I suggest forget the hard drive then - and buy it third party. Focus on the key elements that are way harder (and more expensive) to replace (screen, gpu, processor).

From What I read and heard the graphic card is based for engineering programs more than gaming.
So can I still play strategy games like starcraft II(comig soon) and other similar strategy games smoothly?

Games which do not involve animated 3D graphics will run fine, even on the Intel GPU, while older games (> 2 years) should also run OK on the nVidia GPU.
