question...if i got a t series, would it be much noisier (because of the excess heat) than the P series? thats really what i am concerned about.

Another example, is for example I play The Witcher at medium settings at 1440x900. The game is smooth (not perfect.. but playable), the second a charter has particle effects like stuff flying around them, or get the camera too close and the main character (you), becomes transparent, you can see the game just suddenly drop fps and becomes very choppy.

I would like to add something on the Quadro video card and gaming...
Gaming is possible on this machine... But if you unplug the PSU (meaning running on the battery), the mentioned games wont' even run close to smoothly with pure minimum settings, despite still having "high performance" mode in the power option. The video card feels like a very old graphic card or an Intel one. The CPU does go on max speed but the GPU won't go. You need to plug-it in to fully enable the GPU.

I would say that the T series is potentially noisier. The permitted power consumption is higher all the way through the range but there's a good chance that you can cut back the maximum power consumption (= heat / fan noise) by undervolting. Idle / sleep power consumption for the T series may also be higher and there's no way around that.

Folks, I've had regrets about the Nvidia GPU since the day I bought my E6400. I've been toying with the idea of selling my current unit and buying another E6400 from the outlet with an X4500. That being said, is this the most practical way for me to get an E6400 with an IGP? I guess this is kind of a long shot, but if I call up Dell and tell them I want to downgrade, would they send me the lower-end motherboard for free (given that I send back the other board, of course)? Failing that, if it comes down to buying from the outlet, is there any way at all to tell whether a certain model has a backlit keyboard?

Out of interest Commander Wolf, why do you regret the Nvidia?

    Yes why?

My only concern is that its not as fast as i expected. (but i still hope on some improvemts with new drivers)

The only real benefit to have the internal graphics would be if you have a big need for the extra batterytime, in my opinion. And after a couple of years the advantages of the better graphics is more obvious. (if you plan to keep your laptop)
