That is probably because the LED is under each key... which is very problematic if a key gets removed or you spill a bit of liquid, and probably use more battery life. Of course I need to see the keyboard and analyze it to tel you.

In both cases (RMClock on and off) I get ~800MHz at idle, according to RMClock. CPUZ, of course, still says ~1600.

That looks like it's probably your problem. The zeroth index is the SuperFLM. It even says so (at least for me) in the profile selection section.

That zeroth state is greyed out for me. I notice that you are using XP, and perhaps that is the difference. I am using Vista 64, and even though I am using the latest 64-bit RMClock driver, perhaps there is still a bug/incompatibility with this processor.

If anyone running Vista-64 has got RMClock to work correctly with the zeroth state selectable, please let me know, thanks.

Is it greyed out in both the main profile selection page as well as the performance on demand section? The only way I could grey it out in the performance on demand page was by deselecting it in the main profile section.

Just picked up my new E6400 from FedEx. Was a Outlet purchase - previously ordered new with XP Pro on it. Going through installation process for Vista now - I actually prefer Vista over XP now that I have been using Home Premium for the last couple of years. It is a pretty slick looking laptop and lighter than I expected. Looking forward to playing around with it tonight.

Yes, you got it. I had not selected it on the main profiles page, and that was why it was greyed out in the Performance On Demand page. Now it is set up and I get 800 MHz on the core clock in idling. Thanks!

question, doees the bad latency problem affect the E6400 as well? Because my latency is terrible and its soo annoying during songs; it stutters like crazy (i checked using DPC latency checker), which gets soooooo annoying during songs.

i hope that i didnt just get screwed.

if you are having latency hold constant around 10,000, that can be fixed by reverting back. if it is spiking high (>13,000), then you need to install the intel matrix manager (one version or another).

Hey guys, just got my refurb e6400 in the mail:

    -- Latitude E6400 Laptop: Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
-- Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
    -- 14.1 inch UltraSharp WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display
    -- Power DVD Software
    -- NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M With PC-Card
    -- 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs)
    -- 9 Cell Primary Battery
    -- Genuine Windows Vista Business
-- 160 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200RPM)
-- Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module

While I'm happy at it cosmetically and it's been fun to play with I, unfortunately, have a couple of issues:

I don't think I received all the disks that I should have, all I have is a powerdvd disk and a roxio disc. I assume I should have a vista installation disk as well, at least. I'll call them tomorrow to get the vista disc, but before I do - Is there anything else I'm missing?

Beyond that I've noticed that it seems to lag quite a bit in general and I haven't installed anything except firefox! I don't mean that it's not up to 4gb speed, but that it feels a laggier than my 1gb e1505 with a 1.83 ghz processor! I mean accessing files etc is much faster, but internet browsing is really unresponsive. Just arrowing up and down a forum thread goes more smoothly on my old machine. This might be due to:

Touchpad, my third issue. Really bad scrolling mechanism. Small size is a bit of an issue, but I think I can get used to that, not sure if I can get used to its general responsiveness issues. I'm also switching from xp, but I figured that there wouldn't be such weird lag issues in vista with high enough specs.

I'm willing to make this computer work, but I admit that the above problems are killing a little of my new system buzz.

    Any tips?
