    Hi,

I am using a Latitude E6410 with the NVS 3100m graphics. Every time I install the graphics driver whether off Dell or NVIDIA, the screen goes blank. When I boot the computer, I can see the Dell BIOS post, starting Windows logo (Windows 7), but after that the screen is blank (the backlight remains on). Somehow, external monitors work but the computer will not recognize the monitor built on the laptop. There are no problems when no graphics drivers are installed.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Which version of the Nvidia driver are you using? I've used 260.99 on customer E6410s without issue. I manually installed the drivers though (extract out contents of EXE and used Update driver in Device Manager).

What's the history of the machine/OS installation? Presumably it was working with an nVidia driver?

    1. Have you tried stepping through the Fn+F8 options?

    2. I wonder whether there is a problem with the switch which tells the computer that you have closed the lid so it turns off the display. One way to check this would be to boot from a Linux Live CD. If you see the same problem then you know it is hardware, not Windows.
