Cause the battery life and heat would be terribad. Closest thing would be like those 2400 dollar Sony Z series (I personally would never buy one).

^I looked at one of those when they first came out...but they didn't offer the higher res screen when I was ready to purchase and I've had good luck with Dell......

I mean thin notebooks aren't going to have discreet graphics, the only ones I can think of are the Z series from Sony. x200s and x201s offered 1440x900 on a 12.1", one of the highest resolutions available. Only other thing I could think of x61t with SXGA+ which gives you 1400x1050.

The x201x was perfect...but it was still a Sony. The power of my e6410 in a 12" package...giggity.

But back to the question at hand...

    e6520 vs e6420 vs e6410

    Okay what you do:

    - Get an E6420 motherboard and a E4200 shell.
    - Cut the E6420 motherboard to make it fit into the E4200.
    - ?!?!?!?!
    - Success!

I think I'm going to go with the e6520. The lures of the higher performance are too great to resist. I also really like the quality of the FHD panel. For the little amount I travel, I think it will ultimately be a wise decision.

Now, the three things to buy:

1.) A memory upgrade: Will the e6520 take advantage of 1600 or 1866 speed memory?

2.) A lid protector: Is there anywhere I can get those stick on plastic protectors big enough for the e6520's lid?

3.) A laptop bag...anybody know of a great bag? I've got the brenthaven glove bag for my e6410 now...I love it...a top load slot for the laptop and a front pouch for cables and adapors...thats it.

    1) If you get the quad core Sandy Bridge processors, they natively support 1600 RAM. 1866 would be a waste IMO.

I don't use bags or lid protectors, my business notebooks are too manly for such accessories!

E6410 is a writeoff unless you like the design.

That leaves the E6420 vs E6520, which basically depends on if you need the bigger screen and keyboard or not.

Say, how are you getting an Intel 510 and a WD Black 500 in the same unit? Is one external, or is the SSD crammed into a modular bay?

EDIT: Dang, I should've pressed refresh:
    1. No, probably no difference unless the timings are better on the faster modules since the chipset doesn't go that fast. 2720QM is listed at 1066/1333/1600.
    2. Would like to know, before my E6420 gets scratched up.
    3. Targus makes good bags with lots of padding (the free bags ASUS gives away with their laptops tend to be Targus). Meanwhile, Dell seems to like Belkin a lot.
