It seems that the same fan/noise problems plaguing Vostros may affect the new Sandy Bridge Latitude.

    Caveat emptor.

No, but it seems that Dell isn't wisening up at all:

Test Dell Latitude E6420 Notebook - Notebookcheck.com Tests

It's a German article on the new Latitude 6420; see section "Emissionen / Lautstärke". The noise description is exactly what we are seeing on our Vostros. Failing repeatedly isn't exactly good for business.

I had a vostro 3700 before (worst computer of all time), now a 6420, and i can say, there is absolutely no noise surfing or doing office work. It is silent. Zero noise. Zero. Even doing hd decoding, or gaming its impressively low.

Thats a fact. For normal use this is absoluty top. In the german test, they test worst case scenario, not representative of real world use.

I concur with my E6420. I would also add that it is barely warm during heavy-load tasks.
