I purchased a refurbished Latitude & got a pretty good deal on it, however it came with a DVD-Rom instead of a burner.
Does anyone know the part # of a compatible burner I can replace it with? I've seen some on eBay, but they didn't specify E6510, so I didn't know if they were compatible or not.
I've never had a laptop with an optical drive so easy to replace! Just push this button, this thing pops out & use it to pull out the optical drive. Are all Latitudes like that?
    Thanks!

You should be able to use any thin form optical drives as long as you stay away from "Toshiba" drives since they are set as master from the start. This could cause some issues. And make sure that the bezel fits the replacement unit.

    cheers ...

Go to Dell support, find your P/N and check the height (9.5mm or 12.7mm). Any ODD of that height should work (except the Toshiba's as mentioned above).

The E6510 uses a 9.5mm thick SATA drive (so master / slave is irrelevant). Any burner that works for the E6400 / E6500 / E6410 will fit the E6510.

The picture is definitely wrong, but anything that works for the E6400 and M2400 should work for the E6500 and M4400. I don't know how this drive is supposed to work with the E4200, except externally, though...
