Which one would you buy if you had to choose and why? Both look good to me.

    Thanks.

I personally think the Latitude models are better. The Vostro only comes with a 1366x768 screen and the Latitude has 4 screen options, including a Full HD 1920x1080 screen. The Latitude is built better with an aluminum case and stronger screen hinges. Although it is pricier, it does have a lot of features that the Vostro does not. You have the option of getting a Docking Station with the latitudes, and they have some pretty cool ones to choose from. Vostros do not have any docking solutions.

Depends on what you are doing.

The E series come with 3 year standard depot warranty and offers 1600x900 and 1920x1080p screen as an option but the 3550 is stuck at 1368x768 and only has a standard 1 year warranty. Also the E6520 offers more CPU options.

If price is an issue between the two, seems like the E5520 would be a good middle ground. 1600x900 seems well worth it for that size. I used a Vostro 3500 and was unimpressed with the 1366x768, to say the least. Frankly I think it sucks for a 15". Bad. Unless you really prefer chicklet or something, the display option alone makes the latitude a much better choice. imo.
