i just took a look at the first pics in the E6410 thread and found out that it comes without any UMTS antennas...

according to dell support webcam equipped models do not support umts cards like the dell 5530

is this true or is there a way to add the antennas later on?

Adding antennas is out of the question, there is a lot of work involved in that, an important part of which is safety (hence all those labels on the bottom of the laptop). I'm thinking that if it's a one-or-the-other issue, the webcam is probably taking up antenna space.

I would bet it's possible because Dell's online configuration page lets you configure an E6410 with the webcam, Intel 6300, and the Gobi WWAN card... It will not however allow the Latitude on Flash with the Gobi WWAN card...

Perhaps that is something to do with the radio switch board (see here for what is in the E4300).

but latitude on in the e6410 is just a phison based SSD minicard...

i'll try to disassemble my E6410 as far as possible (i have alot of experience disassembling laptops - some normal clevo barebones; hp probooks; envy; macbookpros so i guess that i'll figure out how to get access to the WLAN cables)

if i manage to boot an SSD minicard (full height indilinx based) from the WWAN slot then i'm not going to get a 5530 card anyways but i guess that it might be interesting for you to see a fully disassemble E6410 for modding purposes and i always have to disassemble every single piece of hardware i get my hands on :D

Today I asked if I can have HSDPA modem in the laptop-of-my-dreams (E6410), and the rep said "Not if you want Latitude-on-flash - only with latitude-on-reader". Which, English speaking, means "both cards go into the same slot". This is probably a 14" compromise, as with "either Express54-, or PC-card".

BTW, I have seen E6510 today, and it has both - but Express is 34...... No space....

this is interesting as the E6410 clrearly has 3 expresscard slots...

i just got a quote for a E6410 and E6510 and both say "silver display lid with WLAN and W WAN support" (one with latitude on and one without)

i still don't know if i should go for the E6410 (it's light); e6510 (huge workspace; 2times larger) or the M4500 (pcie Samsung minicard SSD + 640gb 5400rpm drive in one 15" model)

E6410 is 1040€ with i7 620 and 1440x900; E6510 with same config is 80€ more and the M4500 with pciessd and same config as the 6510 is 1300€ (all without vat)

all are with 4gb ram i7620; highest possible display option webcam and without security

If you plan to move the laptop around often, I would go with the E6410. You'll also need to keep in mind that the E6410 is 16:10 and the E6510/M4500 are 16:9. If you want the extra vertical height and watching movies isn't that important, 16:10 is the way to go.

In the e6410 review on hardwareluxx.de ([User-Review] Dell Latitude E6410 - Forum de Luxx) the user posted a pic, his latitude has the wwan cables, he has the webcam, and latitude on reader instead of latitude flash.

    So...
    wwan+webcam=ok
    wwan+latitude flash= no

I meant external slots - 6410 is "either express54, or pccard", 6510 is "express34 and pccard".

As to internal (mini-PCIe) this is either a size problem (thickness???), or the USB link (LatitudeOn Flash is actually an USB drive, I believe)
