Dell Latitude XT3 Tablet PC | Dell

I didn't see any articles pertaining to this in my quick search of the forum, what do you guys think, better than the e6320 if the price remains reasonable?

Oh my god... **runs back to XT2**

It's like a tablet E6320...and did XT series ever sell the bulk that Dell needed to warrant a refresh? Cause I'd take an x220 tablet in a heartbeat of the XT3...and does it even have an IPS screen?

The reason it intrigues me is 13.3", below that is far too small for me, I used an m1210 for ages and my hands need larger keyboards haha

Well I don't see why Dell one upped the XT3 to 13.3" as now it is waaaaaay larger than x220 tablet which is 12.5". Basically it's like an E6320 in tablet form...XT2 was most comparable to x2xx series tablets from Lenovo.

You act like 13.3" is so large? It's perfect size for a tablet imo, gets nice real estate and gives you a full sized keyboard to boot. Now if only it was 1600x900.

It is smaller than the E6320. Check out Engadget's hands on preview of the XT3 and the gallery pics of the E6320 and E6220. Note where the volume buttons are and you can see that the XT3 is smaller.

The X220 looks to have a smaller footprint which is expected with the smaller screen.

Looking at lots of pictures online, it looks like the Thinkpad has a slightly thicker base and the XT3 has a slightly thicker screen. Overall it looks like they are close to the same thickness.

The lightest X220 config is 3.88lbs with the 4 cell battery. The 6 cell appears to extend out the back of the machine and will add to that weight. According to early "first look" reviews the XT3 was 1.8kg or 3.97lbs. So weight should be very close.

Lenovo does have an IPS display - and those are tough to beat. We will have to wait and see what the XT3 has. We know it has at least a standard TN and outdoor option. Will also be interesting to see if Dell is able to give 3x3 networking at the same time as the Webcam. The X220 makes you choose either or.

Hopefully the full configs will show up on the Dell site and we will know more.

Unless the XT3 has a decent docking solution w/slice and IPS option and pricing, that will determine how successful it is compared to the x220 tablet.

If it does not at least offer IPS, I would take the x220 tablet in a heartbeat over the XT3. The 9 cell + slice for the x220 getting 20+ hour battery life already makes the XT3 look inferior. And I am not digging the looks of any of the new Latitude line. That and the x220 is one of the best ultraportables out now that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (x220i can be had for ~600 with coupons).

I respect your preferences. You probably have used the X220 hands on and liked it. Considering that you are a part of the Thinkpad consortium, I would hope that you really like Lenovo! The only bad thing I have heard about the X220 was some issues with throttling. The XT3 is pretty much an unknown.

I agree with you on the IPS display. It would be a great feature to have. Others may want a 13.3" display. I technically still have an X201 at work, but gave it away for Interns to use because I found it underpowered and it didn't have great battery life in real world conditions. Other people at work really liked them, othere felt the same way I did.

People will make their own decisions. I will make mine when I can see and use both machines hands on.

Ha well jumping ship to Lenovo...but it's just the latest offerings from Dell aren't what I have in mind. I like the last generation stuff, E6410, XT2, E4200. The new designs just seem like a step backwards, not forwards. My major gripe with Dell is selling yesterday's computers at yesterday's prices. Funny part is when I bought my E6410 for 459 shipped, it would crush the equivalent E6400, and the cheapest E6400 at that time in Outlet was like 600-700.

If the XT3 offered IPS and slice, then it could be a contender to the x220. Adunno if there are any other 13.3" tablets on the market.

The x220 has the throttling issues, Lenovo is supposed to release a BIOS patch to fix that, but that is alleviated by not buying the i7, getting a 90 watt AC adapter, and keeping the battery in. I don't personally own one but I have used the x220 enough to say it is very very good, even not owning an x series before.

Did Dell even sell a fair amount of XT2? The brand new prices were criminal, it was like 1600+ brand new, while Outlet had them as low as 600.

Just curious, have you used the new e6420's or e6520's? They are very well built machines, I've deployed a couple of them at my work and they are rock solid nice machines. Far more attractive than a thinkpad.
