    I don't think dock mic refers to a built-in mic in the dock, it probably is referring to the dock microphone jack. If you don't have a 3.5mm mic, that's probably why it's not working...

    That is how it is called in my Latitude 6510. The jack microphone is "Jack Mic" in the Recording Tab. I tried all three in the control panel, none of them work.

    Since you said that you don't have a 3.5mm microphone, the only one that should work is the Internal Microphone or Microphone Array. If both the webcam and microphone are enabled in the BIOS, it should be working. Make sure the levels are high enough in Sound Properties.

    I know it should but it is not. The mic boost is at the highest. My usb mic works right away when plugged.

    The a08 bios is also problematic. The system crashed several times. The machine is currently in the original factory image. Well, I really want to like this machine. But with the sub par screen, mic and bios, it is going back to Dell. The conduction is nice. Feels better than my 6510 and 6400.
