    Hey,

Is anyone having problems with random complete system lockups under bios A19. Everything on my computer instantly freezes (no bsod) and I have to hold the powerbutton down to reboot. I'm trying to pinpoint the culprit. I had the same problem under bios A18. I upgraded from bios A09 which did not have the random lockup problem.

Since a couple of weeks I had the same freezing behavior. Dell support asked me to test the memory modules but the test were all successful.

They replaced my entire mobo and memory yesterday to solve it.

I have bios A18 but I'm not sure the freezing started after I upgraded.

    Cannot help, sorry.
I just want to say I recently installed the A19 on my M4400, and for me everything works fine (with W7, XP is another matter).

I recently uninstalled Dell control point which may have solved it. After the uninstall, I have not had any lockups. I'll see how it performs during the rest of the week.

I just had a system lockup...Apparently the control point software was not the cause.

I was getting some lockups because I installed the Dell Intel 1510 Half Mini-Card wireless application. It scans for channels constantly, I think 30 secs. is default. I don't see why it needs to scan at all if it has connection, so I uninstalled and let Windows 7 load it's own driver\app and it works much better and I haven't had anymore lockups! Probably a shot in the dark, but easy to try! Good Luck!

r00bin - You might upgrade DCP. The whole suite was updated about 2 weeks ago.

Are you talking about version 1.4? Because that's the version I'm currently using.

Yes, but keep in mind that there are 3 different components to DCP, and unfortunately, have to be installed seperately: System Manager, Connection Manager and Security Manager.

Does the lockup happen around the time you dock/undock?

My suggestion would be to run the 32 bit diagnostics and see if anything comes up. If you go into custom test, you can specify the number of iterations that the diagnostics take.
