    Hello essami,

Yes, it supports audio. And yes, there're much cheaper options - just make a search for "DisplayPort HDMI Adapter" in amazon or ebay and you can get one for about $10 :)

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I got the Display port to HDMI cable and it works great for image. But I dont seem to be able to get audio go through it.

Im connecting my laptop directly to my LG 42SL8000 tv.

Ive looked in playback devices but nothing new comes up when connected to the tv and it either plays through my computer speakers, usb audio box or laptops headphones output.

    Any help would be appreaciated!

    Thanks

    Sami

    I've had the same problem.

    The solution is to:
    1. Install video drivers from dell website (not nvidia site) - there are some differences in drivers.
    2. Uninstall IDT audio driver, and install native windows High definition audio drivers (in Win 7 installation is automatic by Windows Update)

And then I have sound on tv via HDMI and DP to HDMI adapter.
In sound devices i have SPDIF digital output.

Try it, it solved my problems.

I don't think is has to do with the Video card drivers from Nvidia.. I think it's IDT drivers the problem. I recall upgrading my IDT drivers once (some time ago), and I lost the Display port audio out source. Well I don't use audio, so it didn't affect me.
