    Hey guys,

Does any one else hear a high pitched noise coming from the center area of the keyboard? The noise goes off and on and I was wondering if anyone had any solutions to solving it.

    Thanks

no, not yet. but its ironic to mention since i have one im constantly annoyed by my moms inspiron b120 making a very high pitched noise.
but only when its in standby. (?!)
i assume at least your problem is only when its turned on... honestly i guess if i put my ear up to it i can hear something but its not really bugging me... maybe you just have good hearing.

Does it change in volume when you change the screen brightness?

    Are you thinking inverter Essami?
I have to say, I have not noticed it on mine but my room sounds like a server room - still, I am one to notice these things straight away

Theres been a problem that some people hear a high pitched noise that changes volume along when you adjust the screen brightness. I have that too but I can only hear a small noise on a few settings so I can workaround by clicking the screen one step brighter or dimmer. So I havent done anything about it.

I don't think it's the inverter as i can hear the noise regardless of what my screen brightness is. Although I usually can't hear it from my sennheiser hd555, if I plug in my M-audio AV40 speakers and crank the volume knob up to max, I can definitely hear it from the speakers.

Can you hear it if your laptop is running on battery? Theres an earthing problem with all Dell problems that when you are connected to earth you can hear a high pitched voice. But this only come through speakers and if you're saying it comes from the computer itself it must be something else.

Did anyone with this problem manage to solve it or call Dell? The noise is not always present, but I hear it very often when in a quiet room and it drives me crazy. I noticed that it stops when the HDD is busy and gets louder when CPU or GPU are under load. I'm sure it has nothing to do with HDD because I have recently changed it and even tried running the system from a pendrive with the HDD disconnected.

It doesn't matter if I'm on battery or not and the brightness doesn't have any influence either.

Don't try solving it. I tried. Dell replaced my motherboard with a refurbished board. It ended up making my situation worse. The CPU whine is almost unpreventable. I had a P8400 that whined and they sent me back a new system with a P8600 and it's silent. Just a bad CPU batch.
