Any ideas what I should do?

The switch on the side only turns on the Bluetooth unless it's switched on before its booted up.

The is a setting in the bios that sets what the wi-fi switch actually turns on and off. You can set it to only effect wi-fi card and/or WWAN and/or WPAN (Bluetooth). I believe you have to make sure the other devices are enabled in the bios and I believe it is the setting before the wi-fi switch. It may be called wi-fi catcher.
