I run a couple of VM's and need to put some more ram in my M4400. I'm going to go from 4GB to 8GB (Crucial 200-pin DDR2 512mhz). I was just wondering if anyone has done this before (opened up the M4400 to upgrade ram) and could give me some advice as to how to gain access to the RAM chips? I've taken a few laptop apart before but they have all been different and this technically belongs to my company and is used for work and cannot afford the downtime if i break something. i'm just looking for some quick advice on how to open up the case to gain acccess to the ram chips. thanks.

wow, one screw pulls the entire bottom of the case off? cool! thanks for the link, very helpful, exactly what i was looking for.

any other "tweaks" i should do while i'm in there? this thing is only a week old, so no dust or dirt in there (yet).

I put 8 gigs of crucial ram in my m4400. yes, one screw and the whole bottom slides back and pops off. Couldn't be easier. I'd probably air dust it while it was open.

Replace the thermal paste!! A really good "how to" in pictures can be found in the original m4400 owner's lounge here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=321950
