    Hi,

It seems that randomly, after awaking from hibernation, my touchpad becomes unresponsive and my keyboard speed settings are reset. This is typically solved by restarting the computer.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Which operating system?

Are you using the latest Dell touchpad driver?

My M4400 does that too (under XP).

The touchpad problem happens very occasionally, and can probably be chalked up to Dell's unfathomably abysmal touchpad driver, but the keyboard speed settings resetting to default speeds is a stumper. It happens seemingly at random when coming out of hibernation, and occurs on a brand-new Windows install as well.

From what I can tell, the keyboard speed problem is not related to XP specifically, or to Dell notebooks. As can be seen in this thread:
    http://www.vistax64.com/vista-hardw...-repeat-delay-speed-automatically-resets.html

Check out post #3 for Uwe's small app that resets the keyboard speed settings back to their maximum rate. It's a workaround and not a fix, but at least it works.

Amazing how I've never had a notebook that wasn't marred by such tiny, but incredibly annoying flaws. Though the M4400 is probably the one with the least problems.

I haven't noticed any problem with the keyboard, but on my Precision M4400 running W7x64 the touchpad becomes sluggish now and then. Seems to happen just randomly, not related to hibernation, which I rarely do (I mainly let it sleep). And this is with the latest touchpad driver, I recently updated because of this problem.

Maybe it's not the same as what you guys see, still....

The release information for the latest version of the Dell touch pad driver mentions that it solves "touch pad not functional after S3". A quick google defines S3 as suspend or hibernation. I just changed my drivers to the dell ones. I'll see how it performs.

It seems the latest drivers from dell fail to enable middle click on my touch pad...I'm really disappointed in dell...My first dell laptop (insperion 6000) didn't have nearly as many problems.

EDIT: I gave up on the latest dell drivers. The scrolling function with the dell drivers are so bad, that I'd rather do complete restarts with the toshiba drivers than sit around fuss with the dell.
