Hi, would appreciate it if you guys could report what kind of battery life you're getting from your M4400, with specifics...

list down your spec, which battery you have, and what programs you were running.

i'll start. specs in sig, i got 2:45 under a decent amount of load. Screen brightness was at maximum, videoconferencing on skype over wifi while working on excel/surfing the net. lots of multitasking, about 40 tabs of firefox running, two instances of notepad.

not too bad i suppose, but slightly disappointing. i was hoping it would touch three hours. i wonder what a quadcore would get with the same usage

Wow <3 hrs for 9 cell. That is disappointing. I wonder if anyone has the 12 cell slice... Dell really need to step up on that switchable graphics business!

well it was under a fair bit of load. skype tends to take up a noticable bit of CPU when videocalling, and so does firefox.

with brightness on medium and surfing via wifi i get 4.5hrs max

but yea i agree, switchable gfx would be nice. would run cooler as well.

My specs are below, I'm getting about 3 hours on high performance with some load. I remember topping 4 hours with the 9-cell once when using lower settings and just using word. But mine appears to be pretty variable.

I've heard from friends that the 12 slice is only worth it if about an hour extra is worth your money.

Have no idea exactly, seem's pretty darned good to me,can go 3.5 hour's easy on the six cell watching a dvd, internet WLAN,screen brightness second or 3rd from the bottom, nvidia powermizer enabled,NHC max battery.

I never do anything requiring high cpu or GPU on battery and find the lower brightness setting's reasonably usable as long as I'm not near direct sunlight.

I'm not a big battery user though so....
