Tested without power adapter and the Hub doesn't work. "Power Surge on port hub" it says. Restart notebook and try again same thing, need the external power.

Did you talk to Dell Technical support? What did they say?
Perhaps you need some updated drivers, or something?
Are there any USB 3.0 settings in the BIOS? Like legacy mode?

Not yet call Dell. I may need to test other USB 3.0 device to confirm this, or if anyone already received m4600 here can help verifying this issue.
    Driver is latest from Renesas.
In bios there is no option for Legacy Mode.

From what I have read here the USB 3 ports on your system seem to be working as it sees your USB 3 hub. For some reason the USB stick is not being detected as a USB 3 stick. Not sure if there is anything that tech support will be able to do for you on this. what is the brand and model of your stick?

It is a Patriot Supersonic 64Gb USB 3.0 stick.

It is detected as USB 2 stick if connected directly to m4600; but it is detected as USB3 if connected through a USB3 hub to m4600, this is where thing become wierd.

On a related note, I read in another post that the E Port Plus USB ports are USB 2.0 only. Is this confirmed? I just received my new rig today but don't have any time yet to play. Thanks!

Today an interesting message come out when i connect the USB3 stick to m4600 usb3 port :

"This Mass Storage Device can transfer data faster if you connect it to a Super Speed 3.0 port"

This message reminded me many years ago when a USB2 device was connected to USB1 port :p

I have plugged in this same USB3 stick to USB2 port many times at several machines,
even the same USB3 stick was connected to all 4 m4600 ports many times, but this is the first time i read this message.

**UPDATED** I restarted the notebook with the USB3 stick on m4600 USB3 port and once it boot into OS the same message come out again.

Yes, m4600 still uses the same PR02X / PR03X docking station since the Ice Age. No USB3 port.

The only docking station with USB3 port is Toshiba I think, and they already have it more than 1 year.

I just bought a Seagate GoFlex 500Gb USB3 external hdd for testing. Guess what, it works. USB3 external HDD definitely consumes more power than USB3 stick, so this shouldn't be power issue of m4600 USB3 port.

So now thing become complicated, whose problem is this, Dell or Patriot. Both have proof of working with other devices / system but they just don't like each other zzz... :(

Okay, my M4600 came in today and it's my only device that supports 3.0 so I was able to do some testing, but my desktop doesn't have 3.0 so I couldn't do any comparisons.

With a 3.0 external hard drive plugged in, I am getting a consistent 90-100 mb/s average but it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again. It might stay connected for 3-4 minutes max and then disconnect and reconnect a few times in a row. My external HD comes with 2 USB ports, I assume the secondary is for extra power draw, and I get this issue with and without the second USB plugged in. Plugged into a USB 2.0 port, it doesn't disconnect at all.

Second device I have to test is a Sandisk Cruzer Blade 3.0 flash drive and I'm getting anywhere from 10mbs, 20mbs, 30mbs, and at max 50mbs, nothing close to the 100mbs my external harddrive is getting.
