I'd be interested if Havoctex can chime in on this.

I got a quote for a Precision M4600 with the RGB IPS screen and the NVIDIA 2000M about a week ago. I was pretty sure I was going to order it, so to make sure I didn't miss anything I tried to reconfigure it online yesterday. For some reason it wouldn't allow the IPS screen and the 2000M to be configured together. The AMD and NVIDIA 1000M card could be configured with it, but not the 2000M.

I wrote an e-mail to my rep yesterday, just to verify my quote had the IPS and the 2000M on it, he replied that it did have both items on it.

I tried to order the system today with my rep and it won't let him, he said he can only order the IPS with the AMD and NVIDIA 1000M card and there was no real explanation why.

I'd be interested to know what kind of issues are going on with this combination that would cause my order to not go through and if there is any time line on when this combination will be available for order.

I have the M4600 with the 2000M (Part 320-1914) and the IPS screen (part 320-2012) on order and in production. My rep had no problem other than initially saying the IPS was not available but he was mis-informed and was reading about the M6600. My unit has been in production for about 1 week now. I hope it does not get bounced!

Reading through the other threads on this website I have seen other M4600 orders with both the IPS and the 2000M so I think you got bad info. I would call the Rep back and tell them to dig further.

If I would've ordered a week ago I would've gotten it ordered, however, I have yet to hear of any M4600's with 2000M and IPS actually ship, and I've heard of some orders getting cancelled for no apparent reason. Not sure if it's related or not though.

There must be an error on the webstore because the M4600 RGB and the 2000M are a valid configuration.

Just to verify, the RGB IPS screen with the 2000M are a valid configuration?

how come you're planning to go with the 2000M instead of the firepro? the firepro seems like a much better deal..although i dont know how much more battery life the 2000M will give

I'm really torn on the whole thing, but being able to turn off the GPU by having the 2000M should do quite a bit for battery life. I could manually disable the AMD card in the BIOS I would be fine with that, but at this point, I haven't heard if this currently is or will be available. If I knew for sure, I'd go AMD no questions asked.
