Yeah, same here. If Optimus is disabled on the Nvidia cards, I would much rather go with the ATI card. One of my deciding factors between the M4600 and the HP 8560w...

It's almost certainly a bug in the configurator. People have already ordered the FirePro with the IPS display, but when Dell "fixed" it to get the 2000M with the IPS screen, they broke the option to get the M5950. You can probably get the configuration you want by calling Dell (or you can make a thread called "M4600 w/ IPS Screen & M5950 = DENIED!" and wait for havoctex to see it :) ).

I agree. Your host OS will divvy out processes to whatever cores are available rather than make them time-slice between an artificially fewer number of cores. Efficiently making use of eight threads in a single app is what we were talking about, however. There has not yet been an "explosion" of these types of applications.

Of course you are - not because your programs are multithread-aware - but because your host OS sees more computing resources available and will hand off new threads to the least active core.

Haha. Thank you for clearing that up for me. The irony of them breaking that option while trying to fix the website is amazing, but entertaining. I could set up that thread...but I think I'll just call Dell when I'm ready to order. :)
