    Hi,

Just unpacked the laptop and backlit keyboard is not working. I tried changing the settings in bios to always on, no dice. Device manager looks fine.. Any known issues around this, hardware or software, it would suck to miss something obvious..

    Thanks,
    Nik

Interesting. Perhaps the laptop did not ship with the backlit keyboard. Did you make sure to make it an option? You can always remove the keyboard. Nevermind the M6500 carries a different Keyboard.

Try getting on the phone or chat with Dell. I am sure they will be willing to send you the replacement keyboard for you to install considering you just received the laptop.

    1. The right arrow key should have a keyboard backlight symbol. If it doesn't then you don't have a backlit keyboard.

    2. Pressing Fn + right arrow should step you through the backlight options. I use always on but other options are off and controlled by the ALS (ambient light sensor).

    3. Dell ControlPoint contains a control for the backlight brightness. Make sure that it is not set to minimum (I use a setting around the middle).

    Fellas,

It does have backlit keyboard, and has the symbol on the rt. arrow key. I've cycled through all 3 options and none of them seem to be doing anything.. As for DCP, I see no option for switching the brightness of the keyboard. The only options I get are:
    System Overview.
    Connection Manager.
    Security Manager.

I'll try calling Dell and see what they have to say about this..

    Thanks,
    Nik
