    Yes, the new NVidia and AMD video cards are MXM 3.1 compliant, which will work in the current M6600 [if the BIOS is updated to see them] since the cards can revert to MXM 3.0b operation. The only real update in 3.1 is the support for PCI Express 3.0 and the extra debugging algorithms (mainly to support 3.0 operation).

    Scott, is it safe to assume that the FirePro line will be like the past couple of generations, where the consumer and pro cards are only different in BIOS?

    Four decimals!? That's exceptional precision! (See what I did there!?)

    At any rate, I can live with the performance of the M8900 for a few months until the OEM prices of the 7970M stabilize and another brave soul has confirmed that the card works in the M6600.

    1) You can look in the BIOS;
    2) You can to verify the physical presence of the module, refer to picture below (Photo from the review of Bokeh): link.
    Remove the battery, gently press the plastic cap (which closes the Bluetooth module) and pull it up.
    No need to unscrew anything. ;)

    1) here (Windows 7 64-bit): Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
    2) or visit Intel.com (the most recent driver).

    If you do not plan to create the raid arrays (0,1,5), choose "ACHI", IMO.

    Best Regards,
    Alex.

    Does M6600 have an ambient light sensor to control keyboard backlit and/or adjust screen brightness?
    I don't see any reference to that simple and quite useful feature so far...
