i had a bit of trouble getting one of the screws out to take of the top plate that is the speaker cover.

personally i dont think the screws were there in the first place as i noticed a missing screw somewhere else. could be that as its a refurb they werent put back in when refurbing.

do you think if i get some screws and attach the plate everthing will be good?

do i ask for 8mm m3 fasteners at the harfwear store?

    thanks

I don't like the LG that came in my M6600 so I wanted to buy a new screen. Can I just order any AU Optronics B173HW01 V5 off EBay and it will fit? Any other suggestions?

My M6600 will not always shutdown properly (from Windows), though I would say two cases out of three it does.

It seems to shut down, it certainly exits Win7 (no message that it did not shutdown properly on next boot), but the fans spin and I need to press the power button 4 secs for it to go out properly. Everything is OK on next boot. It also does this while docked.

The notebook is modded with an AMD 7970M (which replaced the original Quadro 3000M), but otherwise works perfectly well no matter what the circumstances. I also seem to remember it used to do this before the mod. Currently on bios A12, but this happened with A10 and A09 as well.

Has this been brought up before?

Hi, I have similar problem too. My Battery is not working anymore. My M6600 was just 7 months old went it happened, and i don't think the battery has maxed out its capacity to perform. When i boot up, the Error always indicates that the system cannot communicate with the system. I already did a clean installation of Windowa 7.

So I've been getting BSODs every once in a while and I tried looking it up and am not fully understanding what to do. (Seems like its a driver problem or something)

The BSOD states : driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (tcpip.sys). Should I attach the minidump file here? (It seems I can't attach it directly via the forums)

I have none of these problems. The m6600 exits fine from Win7 (no problem on restart), just that instead of powering off it stays in some sort of deep slumber with the fan on and off.

It does not bother me much - since I use it docked and don't usually shut it down, but merely put it to sleep. Maybe that's why I noticed it only late.

See if sw such as whocrashed (Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer) provide a helpful hint about what causes the bsod's.

I ran WhoCrashed and it came up with this:

This was probably caused by the following module: tcpip.sys (tcpip+0x93FA5)
    Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x3C, 0x2, 0x1, 0xFFFFF88001B2DFA5)
    Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\tcpip.sys
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: TCP/IP Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

Is my pagefile messed up or something..? No idea what this means.
