Yes it is probably too early, but hey it's harmless fun right? As I sit here at my beloved but crippled M6500 Covet, sipping a brew & watching yet another Dell onsite tech autopsy the replacement system at the other end of the table, I think to myself, what will the next model be like? Nobody knows yet, but what would we WANT it to be like?

    1) A return to the standard 16x10 aspect ratio from the M6400/M6500. This widescreen consumer thing on the M6600 has got to die, sorry.

    2) IPS, Retina display, TrueColor/superwide color gamut, whatever you want to call it - yes please. No wacky color profiles needing a calibrator to get it looking good would be nice.

    3) I know the Covet edition was not a huge seller, but I liked it. Bring it back, but with more differences than the standard to make it worthwhile. Like maybe a different screen hinge so that it can open up then slide forward and lie flat, to be a tablet pc. Which reminds me

    4) Wacom licensing... up that pressure sensitivity and Dell would sell tons of Covets.

    5) And bring back the Edge2Edge glass... no bezel to get in the way when illustrating on the Covet would be very nice.

    6) Ivy Bridge and 28nm GPUs are a given; less heat & more power, love it.

    7) A return to the M6400/M6500 keyboard as well. M6600 is touch capacitive like on my wife's ghetto Studio 17? Cmon now. Leave that stuff for the Best Buy crowd.

    8) Picking nits, but move the Dell circle logo on the lid back to how it was in the earlier machines. It was a real workstation & I think it looked better with the subtle badge off to the side.

1, 16:10 is a MUST for most professionals but obviously it's impossible for dell to go back bcz LCD panel vendors are profit-oriented.
2, IPS with PremierColor technology as Dell calls, covers 100%Adobe color gamut
3, Covet orange edition is really cool and fancy as alienwares, i like it anyway
4, could be better for touchscreen users,
5, i prefer the anti-glare screen but E2E is stylish,
6, IB is MUST, Intel should enhance its in-core graphic to support 10bit IPS thus optimus works properly to save more power.
7, M6600's keyboard sucks, especially the 4 multimedia buttons above the calculation kb zone.
8, loving dell's logo with a circle outside.

    Yes, 16:10 would be nice.

And keyboard is a weak part (my hp 8510p has a much better keyboard)

And no more cheap shots like with the chi mei screens please...

I would love to have an option for a better (rgbd?) screen for much cheaper then the ips screens. Like the full hd in thinkpad w520.

But besides all my complains, I love my M6600. My next notebook will be around when m6800 or m6900 comes around :) I want to use this until my 4 years of warranty expires.
