I had to re-ordered today to take advantage of the 30% off coupon.
I added bluetooth, webcam, and fingerprint scanner and cost $100 less.
However, it pushed the ship date to 7/22....

    This is really getting frustrating.

(It seems dell has a business model of selling products they can't actually deliver. I think I will choose to not do business with disreputable companies in the future.)

I really don't understand why they have such a long lead time on this laptop. I really don't see any reason they can't get their act together and offer lead times similar to their other models. I mean over a month is just ridiculous! I was lucky, though, mine only took 2.5 weeks (ordered May 20, delivered June 8, although the original EDD was June 23.) However, they were willing to place an expedite on my order since it was through the business department, we were ordering 3 laptops, and it was to replace our 3 company laptops that were stolen from a car, leaving our business seriously handicapped.

It could be caused by Dell's suppliers. The earthquake in Japan caused production disruptions that were anticipated to cause peak supply problems around this time. Also remember that June 30th is the end of the Fiscal Year for many states and companies that are trying to spend down their end of year budgets. Demand is up, supply is low. Things should even out soon.

I originally ordered in 5/18, was informed that the M6600 was held up due to lack of fingerprint readers, so I asked the customer service lady (four weeks ago) to see what the ship time would be if we removed that option. She *cancelled* my existing order before having any clue what the new ship date would be, built a new configuration that had a ship date two days later (today), despite telling me that it would ship on 6/14.

I just received a voicemail that some part is backordered (that part of the voicemail was cut off) and now it appears that everything has been bumped back to 7/20 (existing and new orders). I'm about ready to forcibly vacate my follicles. I call in to see if it yet again is a specific part that i can configure around, and they don't even try to pretend you're not calling some third world country...obscene amounts of background chatter, horrible phone connection, terrible english, and systems that are down so the individual on the other end cannot help me *at all*.

Yet i'm still considering sucking it up and giving them my money so i can get one of these gizmos. It wouldn't be so bad, but I'm limping along on a $400 inspiron that i commandeered from my daughter. Don't know if i can go another month.

btw, i've never ever had to wait more than 4 days for a dell computer. including my latest M4600

I have four functional laptops available to me that will get me by, but I just have that unsettled feeling of using a temporary system. I sold the kiddo on the deal by upgrading it with 6GB of RAM and an SSD :) (In retrospect, 'limping along' was a bit of hyperbole)

I guess I was just venting about Dell's poor showing this time around, as we've had pretty good luck with them for the last 12 years. It's just disappointing and frustrating.

lol i thought you were on some ancient pentium dual core or something.

i've always read ridiculous shipping dates on this forum for many dell models, also for thinkpads on the lenovo forum, but like i said, i've never had to wait more than 4 days for a dell and i've ordered quite a few!

Delivery to Italy needed a little more than 1 month for me.

I'm assuming they are waiting on quite a bit more than fingerprint readers, considering I didn't order one. Good thing I'm extremely patient.
