I have been having the same debate you are. I have started a few threads on it and it seems most people on here prefer the e6410. Its been hard for me to pick because when you go to stores all they have are 16:9 ratios. I do both watching movies and CAD so there are benefits to both for me. I wish Dell could send out empty plastic shells of each laptop to people so we could judge for ourselves how much of a size difference there actually is.

Below is 1440 x 900 wallpaper displayed on a 1600 x 900 display so you can see how much extra real estate you could get with the E6510 (with 1600 x 900 display option). The chassis is also that much wider so you get some bigger loudspeaker grilles (and maybe bigger speakers).

    Hope this helps,

Well if you watch movies you will appreciate the extra horizontal pixels but we don't generally do that on our business oriented notebooks. That's why they created consumer line for that. :p

Some of us watch movies at work :) I dont want a consumer line notebook cause we all know how unreliable they are compared to business line.

Movies *and* CAD? Get the biggest screen you can afford unless you want to pitter away your productivity and lifetime and eyesight and sanity doing CAD on a tiny screen. Simple.

I've decided on the e6510 because I wont be carrying the laptop too much around and im more comfortable with a bigger screen. i went to the store to look at both sizes.

    now a new decision:
    1600x900 or 1920x1080

I am worried that text is too small on the 1920x1080.

i will mainly use this laptop for web browsing and office work (emails, pdfs and work docs)

    What do you guys think?

That's a big screen. I have a 20" 1680 x 1050 monitor which is a joy to look at. However, I know from experience that the same resolution at 15.4" hurts my eyes.

1440x900 on 14.1" is my limit. 1600x900 on 15.4" may ease it up a bit. 1920x1080 on 15.4" would be difficult for me, I think.

1920x1080 on 15.6" should be comparable to 1920x1200 on 15.4". I have experience with the latter, and it is definately not comfortable for reading (great for diagrams though, can easily see a whole 8.5" x 11" page).
