I want to know since no one has actually been talking about it. Are there any new precision, and latitude updates coming out? Any new quadro cards for the precision m2400, like the new hp elite book with 512mb graphics.

An laptop that gets a new I7,I5 or I3 will need a new mobo as the integrated memory controller and new chipset woulnt be compatible. The rest of the stuff is essentially just addon cards so the case may look the same but the heard is different.

On of the reasons im getting a m6500 is the cpu i will have will be the slowest/hottest quad of this generation, that means in a year or two i will be able to pick up a 35nm quad/oct with huge cache and the thermal envelope/socket should be the same.

GPU wise I wouldnt spring the £££ extra dell are asking for the fx3800, its a pretty old architecture by now and if you dont need certified nvidia drivers the cheapest option of the ati is arguably a better choice. We are pretty limited by what the manufacturers have released, the ATI5xxx series may hit mid feb but the nvidia femi chips will likely be mid Q2 and probably run damn hot.

I saw something on one of the sites linked to the CES 2010 news stuff that said something about more announcements on 17 Jan.

I'm interested in the E6500 refresh (E6510?) or the new M4500.

If nothing by the 20th I'm pulling the trigger on a maxed out Studio 15 (820QM).

Why don't you look at HP Elitebooks or Lenovo T/W series if you're interested in Dell Latitudes/Precisions?

We are waiting to see if the M6500 is leading the way for the Dell business notebooks to stay with 16:10 displays when the other manufacturers are moving to 16:9 displays.

    At least Lenovo's T410 and T410s are still 16:10.
