Anyone looking for this for their new Latitude?

I'm trying to locate one on Ebay. Most seem to only fit 9.5 mm HDD's or less.

If the actually ODD in the E6420 is only 9.5mm high, there's no way to physically fit a 12.5mm high HDD in that space?

That linked bay works for the E5400 because the E5400 still uses a 12.5mm high ODD...

Wasn't aware of that. Guess I have to settle for 750 GB or whatever the highest 9.5 mm HDD is. Will look for a 9.5 mm caddy.

Can anyone confirm that a caddy designed for E6410 will fit?

Does every 9.5 mm caddy fit or are there differences?

That's what I'm wondering about right now.

    NO!

It's clear from the pictures that the second HDD caddies for the E6400/E6410 aren't an exact fit for the E6420. I'd advise you to look at the pictures from the Notebookcheck preview of the E6420. It's clear that profiles are different and it isn't clear whether the latching mechanism of the new E3 series will workwith earlier series. The profiles are certainly different.

    Dell Latitude E3 Refresh (E6420, E6520, E5420, E5520) - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

Now that Dell is offering a factory 2nd HDD for only $160, you shouldn't consider aftermarket, even if it was available. I think you'll find that if you add up the cost of a 2nd Hdd caddy, which isn't available yet, along with a 320gb 7200rpm HDD and the 3 year warranty from Dell, that it doesn't pay to go aftermarket. Configure your E6420 with a 2nd HDD for $160.

Problem is I have already ordered the configuration, and it was not possible to choose a second HDD as of now (in my country).

Had hoped to order a caddy now so I have it when the laptop arrives. Dammit.

Never fear. If Dell is offering it in North America as a configuration option, you'll eventually be able to order it as an accessory. You'll just have to wait.

Check out some of the other pictures at Notebookcheck, especially of the bottom of the E6420, which is clearer than the side shot you linked to. The profiles aren't even close.
