Using a dell Latitude E6400; when I go to download the latest driver (there is only one available for my laptop/service tag), its telling mt that it is the wrong driver.
Its the only driver available on Dells site.

I have two things under "Sound" in my device manager. One is IDT High Definition Codec and the other is Intel High Def Audio HDMI.

Which is my soundcard and how do i find the latest driver for it?

    Thanks!

What is your OS, make sure to install the right driver, especially 32-bit or 64-bit versions. Your main audio device is the IDT.

    Win 7 64-bit

I tried downloading this driver: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver | HP® Support

And its telling me that it is not supported by my system/software. is this the correct one?

I am getting the same message when trying to reinstall the driver for my cd-rom...

This is the one from Dell: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

I'm assuming this is the one you tried first, so check where it unpacks and if the installer still returns an error, try updating directly through the device manager.

    Also, cd-rom driver??

    Same error message.
I uninstalled and deleted the old driver and the device manager automatically installed it again.

is it installing the driver that I already have on my computer (which I fear may have a problem with it) or is it going out to the net to find the latest version?

Any ideas on why I am getting that error message? Im getting with multiple drivers...
